Greg
you are absolutely correct. this is a point which was made very clear at our
(CCNPF) symposium on sednesdsay.
1 foetuses are not used, only embryos -

2 in fact foetuses, as i understand it, could not be used because the whole
point of stem cells is that they are from undifferentiated tissue.

3 these are left over embryos from parents who had fertility problems so they
donated eggs which were fertilized and stored ((in vitro i.e. in test tubes).
as soon as the mother is successfully pregnant, the left over embryos are
destroyed.

4, by using these unwanted embryos for stem cell research ( instead of just
destroying them)
scientists are leading the way to EXTEND THE LIFE AND THE QU ALITY OF LIFE of
pwps all over the world!

5 It seems to me that any pro-lifer would support this - not only this
improvement of life for PWPS, but for all people who could benefit rom stem
cell research - , especially when it is understood that no lives are being
lost . The source of the tissue was being trashed anyway!

6 to answer the question about using our own cells to produce stem cells
in all probability the cause of pd is written in our genetic structure -
either inherited or by viral or environmental damage. using our own cells
would be perpetuating the damage instead of providing a cure.

We are talking about using unwanted embryos that are destined for the garbage because the parents no longer want them. No one wants to advance research by starting a bio-business .........
