Joan, Tragic case, but all too common. Most people don't even know when deadly force is an appropriate response to a criminal act or self-defense. After 20 years as a police officer and a firearms expert I find myself agreeing with some of the gun control advocates, especially pertaining to handguns. The taking of a life for a property crime is unconscionable. Are they filing any charges against the restaurant owner?
