Dear list members, I received the following reply from Mike Claeys, Policy Coordinator of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, in response to a question about a possible database on the candidates' views on PD and health care related issues (research funding, prescription drug coverage, stem cell research, disability issues, medical insurance etc.) The people there are a good information resource. Their phone number is 800-850-4726. Also if any list members have been able to question candidates or their staff about health care issues (and received answers!) would you post their replies to the list? I could be useful information for others. We have a pretty good handle on where Members of Congress stand on PD-related issues, stem cell research, NIH funding and the like. However, at the moment we don't have an actual data base of such information that people can independently access. Specific questions on specific Members of Congress should be called or emailed to our CA office. And by the way, George W. Bush opposes federal funding of pluripotent stem cell research.
