Dear Mr. Maddux:

It is always difficult to second-guess what others are doing based upon
partial information.

Based on the information you provided, i wondered why your doctor has
avoided the use of some of the more effective and newer medications that
everyone else discusses in this list. Are you are under the care of a
neurologist? The choice of medications to treat you seems to center around
the OLDER medications - the anticholinergic drugs and amantadine. The dose
of sinemet you mention seems to be insufficient to establish whether you
could have a beneficial response. Is there any reason why direct agonists
(Mirapex, Requip, or Permax) have not been tried? Perhaps your doctor is
planning to try you on these medications?

Depending on your response to those questions, I would not give up the hope
that a better combination can be found in your case, unless there is a lot
more information that you did not provide. If you have been seeing a
neurologist, then perhaps going for a second opinion from a movement
disorder specialist would make sense.

| DR. Romero,
| If ref to your reply to Sue, I am a tremor only Parkie, and I have tried
| amantadine (three months) and sinemet ( about 7 or 8 days @ 25/100 dose)
| with no reduction of tremors. I also tried Artane for 9 weeks in
increasing
| dose, up to about 9 mg per day. I was getting some relief but was feeling
| light headed and dizzy, which I did not like. I guess maybe I should try
the
| artane again and stick with it maybe at a lower dose. My DR has no
| suggestion as to what I should try. Does this possibly mean that I am a
PWP
| that will be unable to get any relief from medications and surgery would
be
| the only remaining option?
