Forgot to include the effect of pressure. The previous dissertation assumes all occurs at constant pressure. The phenomenon of sodas "boiling" when you open is due to a sudden decrease in pressure allowing the gases to come out of the liquid. Shaking prior to opening just build up more pressure and thus a bigger drop when opened.
