If you don't mind the drive. the best neuro/movement disorder doc/neuro surgeon in the Western part of the USA is Dr. Robert Iacono, who has his pivate practice in Redlands and operates out of Loma Linda University Medical Center. The drive is about an hour and a half, but it's well worth it/ You can possibly see Dr. Iacono once or twice to be evaluated, and then get your bi-annual check up plus your drug prescriptions from a local MD. after you're stabilized. You'll find Dr. Iacono to be an outstanding and very innovative and creative physician - very intuitive with PD. He also gets dinged alot some of his fellow doctors, because he's got an ego that's based upon his great medical/surgical skills. I might add that Dr. Iacono returned ME to a "normal" state after Performing a unilateral pallidotomoy (brain surgery) on me, in 10/94. I got a renewed chance at life! IF you can wait, Dr. Iacono will prolly be the guest speaker at the support group I run - The Encino Tri-Valley PD Support Group, meeting the third Saturday of each month at Encino Hospital, from 1 to 3 p.m. Dr. Jeffrey Bornstein of UCLA's movement disorder clinic is also top notch, however there's something like an 9 or 10 month waiting list to get in to see him. A decent \, bordering to good movement disorder neuro who works out of Oxnard (but has an office in Encino where he sees patients 1 or 2 days a week is Dr. Jim Sutton. The main part of his practice is out of Oxnard's St. John's Hospital, a PD Center of Excellence. There's other MDs, many with fine skills and good reputations... just let me em know what you're looking for.
