Trudeau health worries Concerns grow as ex-PM's sons say frail father 'is not well' By SEAN DURKAN -- Ottawa Bureau OTTAWA, September 8,2000 -- Friends and political foes alike were offering prayers and good wishes last night for Pierre Trudeau, as fears mounted over reports that the former prime minister is "seriously ill." Amid mounting rumours about Trudeau's health, his sons Justin and Sacha issued a press release yesterday stating their father "is not well." The brief statement added he was "resting comfortably with his family and receiving medical attention," and requested the family's privacy be respected. "His boys are there (at Trudeau's home), they rent movies," Trudeau's personal assistant, Ann Paris, said yesterday. The press release only fuelled more rumours and left many fearing for the worst for the politician Canadians either love or hate but always respect. Trudeau, who turns 81 next month suffers from PARKINSON's disease and had a serious bout with pneumonia last January, which friends say permanently sapped his strength. <SNIP> -- With files from Anne Dawson, Antonella Artuso and CP Copyright © 2000, Canoe Limited Partnership. -- Judith Richards, London, Ontario, Canada [log in to unmask] Today’s Research...
