politics and religion are usually controversial.
just avoiding them will not make them go away.

well--we got rid of humor
and we got rid of too much talk of clinical depression
and now we can get rid of politics
and we can get rid of religion
or we got rid of talk of stem cells
and maybe we can get rid of talk of hope
because that seems to come up a lot
or our medications
because that seems to come up a lot
too controvercial
and we're tired of deleting

but, who is "we"?

my opinion is--let it all be
embrace diversity and learn from one and another,
appreciate the checks and balances differing views represent.
with 1800 of us looking on...
there will certainly be differing opinions expressed.
most of us aren't even in the same country
but, we're all connected,
not just electronically.

if an emotional response is elicited by a list message--
reflect on what chord it struck inside yourself.
if a message does nothing--what use is that?
not interesting?
not informative?
not worth filing into the private archive?

yes, if we can't talk about it here...then where?

everything is politics
our existence is inseperable from society
it will have an impact on our parky lives
good or bad
not much miiddle ground here

also, i think that it as important "how" we discuss an issue

debate is good for representing various sides of an issue
flaming, name calling, is not really debate
present factual info, or experience, or quote authorities--
pro and con
...then let the bystanders make up their own minds.

you may not have changed the mind of the person you debate...but,
it can influence so many that you may never hear from.

i feel the same way...as bit by bit
my dreams are taken from me or my family
and replaced by inevitable nightmares of unecessary suffering

i should have another 20 years until retirement
but, instead i'm struggling to stay on top of what little i do now.
and i've cut back over the past few years even before diagnosis
not knowing what was going on
just knowing things weren't getting done,
that were easy before.

this is so well put,
i'm sharing it with some people i know
that aren't on the list
i hope you don't mind

tranquility is like balance
not necessarily stable
or interesting
or like
neutral gear
not going anywhere

just because things are calm and smooth
doesn't mean progress
unless that is the goal

i'd rather have a cure
and overcome whatever obstacles get in the way
