Rofecoxib (Vioxx), to my knowledge, is not "a stronger ibuprofen."  It is a
useful alternative to ibuprofen, particularly in people who have difficulty
with acid stomach and peptic irritation symptoms.  It is a "cox-2
inhibitor."  It is MUCH more expensive.

The main difference from ibuprofen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs (NSAIDS) is that it is not as irritating to the stomach as the
traditional anti-inflammatory drugs, but I am not aware of any data to
support any claim of superiority in efficacy.
