As children, my cousin and I occasionally stayed on the farm with my
grandparents, where we made use of the two-seater outhouse.  I remember
sitting companionably with her in the outhouse, talking and reading the old
Sears catalogs kept in there - and then using a page from the catalog for the
purpose intended - as toilet paper.

BTW, when "real" toilet paper became available, my grandfather would never go
into the store to purchase it himself.  Far too embarrassing.
