Bernie - This describes standard DBS, although the surgery doesn't usually take nearly as long as this one did. If you're a candidate for this surgery, I'd urge you to consider it strongly before it's too late. As you know, if you wait until the meds cause hallucinations or dementia or other cognitive problems, you've lost your opportunity to be considered for it. I'm sure everyone assumes those problems will come to someone else, not them, but all those "someone elses" thought that too. Margie cg for Dick, 55/18
