Hi All, In light of the recent mild harangue offered over differing opinions regarding the moral and ethical issues surrounding stem cell research I would like to offer the following suggestions... Please respect all others rights... especially the basic right to freedom of speech; freedom of opinion; freedom of expression. Please do examine and discuss these important issues from every angle. Please keep an open mind. Please acknowledge alternative ideas. There is a Biotech Organization in Washington. They lobby. They issue press releases. They have an extensive web site with a lot of very relevant information re: Ethics and Principals. I encourage you all to read and consider some of their material. The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) represents more than 830 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations in 47 states and more than 26 nations. Its members are involved in the research and development of health care, agricultural and environmental biotechnology products. There's more to biotechnology than science and business Biotechnology Industry Organization - Facing the Future - Responsibly http://www.bio.org/bioethics/overview.html Biotechnology Industry Organization BIO http://www.bio.org/siteguide.html BioEthics Issues http://www.bio.org/bioethics/bioethics_intro.html BioEthics Statement of Principles http://www.bio.org/bioethics/principles.html BIO Response to NBAC on Stem Cell Research March 22, 1999 (still a worthwhile and very relevant read) http://www.bio.org/bioethics/stemcell.html Best regards ........ murray [log in to unmask]
