To those who asked for input on the List,

I would be very happy if religion of any type was taken out of this
discussion. It is a bit annoying to always assume that all or any of any
group are defined only as Christians or even as being religious. I do
not understand how anyone could have the nerve to pass judgement on
anothers decision to decide not to have a baby any more than it is
anyone elses business to decide they have to carry one to term no matter
what. It isnt about life half as much as the quality of life that we all
hope to have. If you are right about life beginning at 6 weeks then
maybe all the human beings that are carriers of genetic flaws that they
wouldnt wish to pass on should go ahead and continue the pregnancy. If
we continue to do research to live longer yet do little or nothing to
prevent the creation and birth of babies that will lack the same quality
of life...? Someone please explain this as I do not understand that
rational. Somehow the idea that an unused or discarded embryo is a life
already eludes me. Is life that important that every possible
combination is equal ? I dont think so as we certainly shun those who
are not as we are. It seems to me that the lives that we know, our
husbands or wives, our children that we already have, our family members
and our loved friends, are the most important part of this argument. I
said this before-- an unknown unheld group of cells does not have the
same importance for me, and I can not see how it would for any of you..
if you are honest that is.
