Subject: Re: Debating etiquette
Charlie and Other Debaters,
As one of many, I value your
mentalities and respect your views whether or not I agree with them. Most of
all, I honor your right to share your opinions. I am also aware that there are
times when it is difficult to control one's emotions. However, here, in this
place, we ask you to consider that we look to you not just for your views but
for clarity and our edification.
How stem cell research is done. Who
does it. Where it will be done. What controls and protections will be placed
upon it. What sources are used. How ethics and morals will fit. Only time will
tell. This is a deep,
soul-searching subject with infinite
potential.
I believe in the right to choose. When stem cell research
becomes marketable, and it will, and if it proves to be the solution to "my
enemy within", I reserve the right to put my dollar into the slot. Others may
choose not to participate. No matter what, everyone should have the right of
choice!
In the meantime, debaters, continue! Teach me all you can in
what time you have!

My hope in debating this publicly has been to sharpen my
arguments and hopefully allow the list to hear all sides of these complex
issues. While the language sometimes gets strong I respect Bob and I think
he respects me as person. If we do not attack each other as people I don't
see why we should not continue except when the subject is starting to get
stale. To those who are offended by what we have to say all I can say is
delete before you read our posts. To those of you who have expressed
your appreciation for the debate thanks and feel free to add your opinions.
I will attempt to keep the discussion on high level as I am sure Bob will,
and ask you all to try and do the same.

Greg you are correct regarding the presidential debates being
mundane
and boring. I really do enjoy good discussion.
Just felt a
wee bit of heat building. If
there was none, I guess I just read
more
stess into the various posts. I always hate to see strife on the
list.
That was my only concern. I too enjoy Bobs wit.
Oh well can't
be perfect all the time.
Hugs anyway, Juanita
