Michael,

Mellaril is Thioridazine, a close relative of Thorazine, and a potent anti-
psychotic.  Unfortunately, however, it is also quite sedating and
blocks Dopamine big-time.  One of its major side-effects is a
Parkinsonian syndrome!

I am "not there", and so, I hate to "second-guess" your wife's treating
physician, but I would not recommend Mellaril or other drugs in that
category for anyone with PD.  I think that you need a second opinion
from a movement-disorder specialist!
