Michael, Mellaril is Thioridazine, a close relative of Thorazine, and a potent anti- psychotic. Unfortunately, however, it is also quite sedating and blocks Dopamine big-time. One of its major side-effects is a Parkinsonian syndrome! I am "not there", and so, I hate to "second-guess" your wife's treating physician, but I would not recommend Mellaril or other drugs in that category for anyone with PD. I think that you need a second opinion from a movement-disorder specialist! Best, Bob ********************************************** Robert A. Fink, M. D., F.A.C.S., P.
