According to the books I've read, it doesn't matter whether they are complex
or simple.  Certainly the simple carbs, the sugary stuff, are the worst.
They are the empty carbs and have little or no food value.  If you are going
to have carbs in your diet, the complex ones are certainly better.  But all
carbs turn to sugar.  All contribute to high sugar metabolism,
hyperinsulinemia, etc.  It is merely that those we call complex have other
food values too.

I prefer being a lurker and intend to now return to that status.
