Ken, (and everyone) Dittos on the military vote issue. Why Al hasn't made this a big issue I could NEVER guess. Especially after making plain that he wants EVERY ballot counted. The country is split almost down the middle, each side furious that the other side is pulling somthing crooked. Each side is making phone calls to get out the demonstrators. Each side is claiming the high ground. I know the "Chad-o-matic" has thousands of miscounted ballots in every state they are used. This evidently has been going on for years. THEY KNEW! This bugs me ALMOST as much as the Fraudulently discarded Military votes. Your idea about the computer (modem) ballot is interesting. Recounts would sure be a snap. Andddd afftr all we nevr have typos on our puters.... & they NEVER screw up. I personally do like the idea of the "touch screen" balloting used in California. The only problem is the ugly mugs on some of these guys or gals would break the machines for sure. Of course if we all had bar codes on our foreheads to prove to the puter we were who we said we were. Retina scans wouldn't work because not everyone has eyes, but everyone has a head. You could even use a special ink that is invisible to the eyes. It would be a lot of lines... maybe IIIIII IIIIII IIIIII or somthing like it. Who knows, maybe the "Chad-o-matic" fiasco would hurry up the technology? Lanier, I believe EVERY vote should be counted, especially those of the military absentees and although I really would prefer Gore to be president, if Bush gets the vote after the counting is done ACCURATELY, the Presidency should be his! I don't mind the jokes at Florida's expense, but I know too many young, intelligent and concerned people who voted in Palm Beach County, who either knew immediately or soon after they voted, that they had voted for Buchanan by mistake! Also, many of the elderly KNEW they were having a problem, but could not get help or figured "one vote won't matter" I had a 102 fever and I went to vote, so it's sad to think that other people lost the vote due to defective ballots and equipment. I would like closure as much as anyone, but we should be proud that we live in a country where an individual's vote is worth fighting arguing or even suing for! The only way I would be ashamed of my (adopted) home state, would be if we just gave up our vote without a good fight! When the dust is settled, I believe we will end up with modern voting machinery and a new respect for the value of each vote! Meanwhile, keep the jokes, songs and cartoons coming, most of them ARE very funny! :-) Ken "glad my name's not CHAD!"
