Marriage!

I met a beautiful Austrian Girl,
In the year of fifty-five.
My heart went into a terrific whirl,
But at last I was ALIVE.

She consented to be my wedded wife,
On that lovely September day.
It changed my very life,
I am most happy to be able to say.

We promised at the very start,
Not to go to sleep on a stupid row.
A kiss a cuddle now that was smart,
Our marriage has lasted fine until now.

We shared things both good and bad,
Life was a struggle to survive.
But we were all we had,
We are still happy to be alive.

Our advice to the young ones,
Be true to each other,
Shining on you will be many Suns,
That will try your love to smother.

We are both over seventy years of age,
We hold our heads up high.
Marriage is no more the rage,
For which we both could cry.
