re the recent discussions on freezing and falling the following may be useful... Go to the hardware store and pickup a lightweight 3/4" diameter section of PVC tubing approximately 6' in length - the kind used for lawn sprinklers. You will also need an "L" shaped coupling and a hacksaw to cut and 18" section of the long pipe (unless your hardware store will cut it for you). Buy a small can of PVC cement and glue the "L" to the end of the long piece and the 12" section to the other end of the "L". You should now have a cane with an 12" arm at the bottom. The subject should position the 12" section of the cane in front of his feet and step over the 12" section and then he should reposition the cane as before in front of his feet so that with each step of say his right foot there is this section of pipe to step over. By the way I am working on a hands-free electronic version of such a cueing device. Tom
