I found an excellent article on shoulder problems:

Evaluation of the Patient with Shoulder Complaints

"Shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal
complaint that may be due to either intrinsic disorders
of the shoulder or referred pain. The former include
injuries and acute or chronic inflammation of the
shoulder joint, tendons, surrounding ligaments, or
periarticular structures. This review will provide a
general approach to the evaluation of patients with
shoulder pain."
