Sharon,

I have recently installed WinME on a new Hard Disk with IE 5.5 and it works great!  I use Outlook 98 as my mail client.  The reason I did this was because I was having problems with IE 5.5.

If you want to take a completely fresh approach to the problem, Try using BlueLight (free Internet access) as your ISP.  Other choices would be NetZero or Juno.  They have many local access numbers (To find BlueLight on the intenet using Google as the search engine) It is also available on CD at  K-Mart.  I personally do not like the way BlueLight handles mail, but I offer it as an alternative.  Eudora (Freeware) is a good second choice for a browser.  I like IE 5.5.

Choices, I offer choices.  After you have found a viable "fix"or are using different work-a-rounds, Write your findings up and distribute them on the Parkinsons Exchange.  As far as Outlook 98 is concerned, I had to quite recently reinstall it because of problems I was having; the original CD from Microsoft would not allow an install without IE 4.1  I didn't want IE 4.1, I was happy with IE 5.5   I found a good book on Outlook 98 at the library WITH A DISK IN THE BACK. With it I was able to reinstall the pieces of Outlook that were broken, and save the install to a zip file on my hard disk.  Be aware, Microsoft has changed their way of doing business, IE 2000 books DO NOT come with IE 2000, only the self help files (Lessons) are on this CD.
