Hi all,
I have done several things to make my house more liveable such as
installing motion detector light switches in basement, utility room and
hallways. I never again have to enter a dark area and fumble for a light
switch or pull chain. I also use generous night lights with 7watt bulbs
which turn on at night.
One of my most difficult tasks is simply changing light bulbs. My
neighbors have been generous in helping. I now use long lasting light
bulbs and compact flourescents which are advertized as lasting several
years.
I installed a wireless door bell with chimes in different parts of the
house so I don't miss someone at the door. My Old English Sheep Dog "Gus"
thinks this is exciting and responds with vigor.
Though my porch is only two steps up, I am having a hand rail installed to
provide a solid handhold. I don't do steps very well.
I use a minimum of throw rugs and hope to eliminate some falls.
"Lowes" carries most of these helpers. Other home repair/supply
places should also. I am sure there are many other ways to assist in some
of the problems PD causes in our routine activities which are often taken for
granted.
My best, Ira
