gosh mary ann!

your advice almost sounds dangerous to me!

"if a drug doesn't work for you, drop it" ???!!!

how about adding
"after consultation with a movement disorder and pd specialist"
and
"always remembering to titrate sloooooooowly slooooowly"
and
"always keeping in mind 'joe's story' "
[on my website - use the search facility there]
?

there are some generalities that DO apply in pd
[i.e. levodopa is the "gold standard" for diagnosis and treatment]
but the disease doesn't fit the initial limited ideas about its
characteristics
and the thinking now is that it may be a 'family' of disorders ...

funny

i have never heard 'over and over' in the 12 years since i started it
that selegiline didn't work...
that one failed british study is the only negative one that i have noticed

and long ago

i read
[and then experienced for myself when i ran out of it]
that selegiline gives symptomatic relief
[i.e. it relieves some of the symptoms of pd]
and has frequently been used as a 'starter' med on its own
with fewer problems than the dopamine agonists
and that potential added benefit of
'neuro-protection'
