The curtain falls, The last act
ended,
Actors and Actresses have left the stage.
Rows of theatre seats
unattended,
Nothing left of the hit that was all the rage.
Romeo and
Julia one of Shakespears greats,
Hints of fame hang in the air,
The
haunting echo of applause dissipates.
No one more the triumphs to
share.
The Caretaker makes his lonely rounds,
Does he think of bygone
days.
Of the Audiances and the colourful sounds,
Is his head full of
pathos and plays.
No he is waiting for the break of day,
The long
night will come to an end.
Homewards he will make his weary way,
Time with
his loved ones to spend.
New blocks of offices will soar into the
sky,
For the theatre of old is condemned.
Perhaps some will remember with
a sigh,
That Shakespeare had come to an end.
