Carol-- weakness and fatigue are very much a part of PD for many PWPs. The
big weight loss may also play a part. This sounds somewhat complicated,
and I would hesitate to make specific suggestions, but wonder if you have
raised these questions with her doctor? Does she see a Movement Disorder
specialist who understands the variations and complications of PD as a
general neurologist may not? If you have had no help, perhaps you need a
consultation with a MDS---or a new neuro. This sounds fairly extreme for
someone only diagnosed a couple of years ago. There are
syndromes called PD Plus which are somewhat different from "regular" PD,
develop more rapidly
and do not respond well to PD meds. It may be important to be sure she
doesn't have one of these, and they can be tricky to diagnose. You didn't
say how old she is or what meds she takes.
This isn't giving you any answers, but some questions to consider---
Have you thought about joining the CARE list for caregivers of PWPs? I
just posted about it--let me know if you are interested.
