It isn't as simple as 'every three years'. Those who have an interest in mounting performances in York now collaborate so that there is some sort of order in which waggon performance in the street and indoor performances of various types can all co-exist. Everyone held off last year so that the Minster performances wouldn't be compromised by the loss of people working on other productions. The waggon series, which happened in 1994 and 1998, may continue, but this isn't decided. After the Guilds were brought back into the picture in 1998 they were keen to continue sponsoring and mounting performances, and their intention - as far as I know - is to sponsor performances (or a performance) in 2002. Whether these will be waggon plays or not I don't know. The person who would have most up-to-date information on this would be Delma Tomlin, director of the York Early Music Festival PJW Marty wrote: > > York did their big production in the Minster last year, and they only do it > every three years, so that one is out.
