MRDS CALL FOR PAPERS--MLA 2001

The Medieval and Renaissance Drama Society is seeking papers on the
following subjects for 2 sessions at the 2001 MLA Convention in New Orleans:

Session 1: Katharine of Aragon and Tudor Drama
Papers assessing records of Katharine's marriage festival (1501), its
influence on Tudor dramatic forms, and/or Katharine as sponsor, actor, and
subject in dramatic performance. 1-page abstracts by 9 Mar.; Gloria J.

Session 2: St. Michael Is a Sissy: The Popularity of Demons and Dragons in
Early Drama
Papers assessing the compelling nature of evil entities in early drama,
their portrayal and/or socio-cultural significance. 1-page abstracts by 9
Mar; Gloria J. Betcher, MRDS Secretary/Treasurer ([log in to unmask]).

We invite abstract submissions from all interested parties, including those
who are not current members of MRDS or MLA; however, you should be aware
that if your paper is selected for presentation, MLA requires you to become
a member of their organization by 1 April 2001. All abstracts should be
submitted electronically so that they may be forwarded efficiently to the
session organizers for consideration. To help us sort submissions, please
indicate the name of the session for which you are submitting your abstract.
