Dear everyone,

Team Parkinson has again been accepted as one of the official charities by
the Los Angeles Marathon March 4, 2001! Plus we'll have a booth at the
Quality of Life Expo at the LA Convention Center March 1,2 and 3. Laila
Ali (the boxer) has joined Rodney Peete and Holly Robinson Peete as
honorary co-captains.

What is Team Parkinson? a non-profit effort organized by volunteers from
Southern California Parkinson's groups. Our sponsors are the Parkinson
Alliance and the Parkinson Unity Walk. All the different PD "org's" work
together to raise funds for research for the cure. Last year (our first)
we raised enough for a pilot program at University of Southern California
(USC), thanks greatly to Mignone Trenary.

How can you join? Volunteers are needed to ask local businesses, clubs,
churches, and schools to put out our brochures. Please send me a note
(PIEN members: off list, please) with your address and the number of
brochures, and the number of display stands that you need. Or call
toll-free to 1-877-735-2864. Anyone from anywhere is welcome to volunteer.

To the dynamos, and to those with deep pockets: if you or your group can
send in $1500 or more by February 7, 2001, you'll be on time for your name
to be proudly displayed on our spiffy T-shirt. It would be great if we
could have at least 26 names, one for each mile.

Fund the research, find the cure, go team go! Or as we say in my family,
"we're off like a herd of turtles!" Slow & steady wins the race.
