Reports of the death of fetal tissue research are premature. According to an LA Times article dated today, Bush would have a problem trying to bar funding for fetal tissue research. "In 1993, Congress expressly prohibited the executive branch from stopping fetal tissue transplantation research. The law reads: 'No official of the executive branch may impose a policy [saying] that the Department of Health and Human Services is prohibited from conducting or supporting any research on the transplantation of human fetal tissue for therapeutic purposes.'" http://www.latimes.com/print/asection/20010127/t000007895.html The law in question is Public Law 103-43, June 10, 1993, the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993.
