Hi,

My name is Margie Davis and I lead therapeutic writing courses for
caregivers to adults with any type of debilitating condition, including
Parkinson's. The next Writing for Personal Caregivers online course begins
Wednesday, January 31, at my web site, Writing to Heal, Writing to Grow, at
www.writingtoheal.com. This is a six-week online course for adults of any
writing ability.

In therapeutic writing, the important thing is to "translate your emotional
experiences into language." Research psychologist James W. Pennebaker found
that when people wrote their deep thoughts and feelings about stressful
events, they released stress, improved their outlook, and boosted their
immune system. Recent studies have shown that the emotional and physical
stresses of caregiving can lead to illness, so learning to do therapeutic
writing can be a self-help technique for caregivers to loved ones with
Parkinson's. Parkinson's caregivers have reaped great benefit from my
online courses; you can read comments from previous participants at my web
site.
