Hi Bob, Marvin, and All,
The latest Kakworm Virus isn't an attachment..... It is a "script" that
inserts itself in the e-mail header. I'm sure Marvin Weiss didn't
intentionally send it and.... I don't think it is easy to "filter" every
message at the LISTSERV..... What is really essential is that we all have
an up-to-date antivirus program scanning every incoming e-mail in real-
time mode so that viruses get detected and deleted before they have an
opportunity to infect our computers. How do you know if you have an
up-to-date antivirus program running in real-time mode? Easy.... If you
weren't alerted to the Kakworm virus in Marvin Weiss's e-mail message
as Bob and I were.... then you may have a problem. My PC has PC-Cillin
2000 and it is set to scan every file before opening and delete any
suspect e-mail. It is upgraded weekly. It slows things down but it is
worth it. It is not good enough to have an antivirus program if it is not
a.(setup to scan all incoming files in real-time) and b.(kept current by
systematically downloading and updating to the latest virus database)...

The alternative is to go NoMail and read the messages online (See John
Cottingham's detailed precise instructions 'bout 3 e-mails back.

Bob Fink and I also avoid a lot of problems by using David Harris's well
written and time tested Pegasus as our chosen e-mail client instead of
Microsoft's Outlook Express..... (Works for me)

Best regards ....... murray
