Nitza, loss of taste can occur with medications, it can also occur with
aging. Usually, loss of the sense of smell is associated with PD, but
everyone is different in that regard. It can also be due to deficiencies
of some nutrients -- has your mother's weight changed or has she changed
the kind or amounts of foods that she regularly eats?

If it affects her appetite, it may help to find out if there are some
foods that she can still taste and enjoy, and include some of these
foods daily.
