Heaven On Earth.

I did not promise you Heaven on Earth,
But I promised to be true.
Our love was a joyful birth,
Being true was the easiest thing to do.
I promised for richer or for poor,
Somewhere in the middle, a pretty good score.
Then there was for better or for worse,
Did I ever give you grounds me to curse.
Of course in sickness or in health,
All was well until illness crept in by stealth.
With children we were never blest,
God knows we did our very best.
A good home life was ours,
I sometimes stewed your path with flowers.
We stuck together through thick and thin,
All together our life was just one big win.
We had our love we had each other,
Nothing could our happiness smother.
We held hands walking down the street,
Friends we make with the people that we meet.
Our love shows in a beautiful glow,
Kisses we often to each other did throw.
Our marriage was not made on earth,
Heaven showed us our real worth,
No I did not promise you Heaven on Earth,
We both know that this was a sacred birth.
You my first and only love so sweet,
I prostrate myself at your feet.
Looking forward to a few more years,
We have overcome our youthful fears.
