Thanks for your response. I was hoping that the loss of taste was something temporal or something that could be treated with medicines.

    The loss of  taste and smell are both Parkinson's symptoms.  In fact, if your 
    mom's physician is unaware of how common it is for a Parkie to lose both of 
    those senses, 
    if that was ME, I'd look for another doctor (a movement disorder specialist 
    would be the best for her, I believe. 
    
    Hmmm...(thinking) As a matter of fact the senses of smell and taste are often 
    lost early on in an individual's Parkinson's evolution.
