Brian,

I have been retested twice by the state motor vehicle. Once, when I was in
really bad shape before my first pallidotomy. At the time I had a left-foot
gas pedal that I was restricted to along with medication restrictions I
still carry. That was a daunting experience. But, somehow I managed to
pass it with parallel parking and hill brake tests included.

The second time was just this past summer after my second pallidotomy.
Physically, I am much better than I was pre-surgery. I had discarded the
left-foot apparatus (for this I was admonished by the instructor, as you are
not supposed to remove any restrictions without permission) and I passed
like an adult taking a kid's test. I am sure the testing procedure is
different north of the border, but it helps down here if you are honest
about any trouble you are experiencing. The instructor was empathetic and
helpful during the first test. I hope you have the same success as I did.

> Has anyone had a letter from the Ministry requiring medical testing (as a
condition for retaining a driver's licence) because they have Parkinson's or
due to the medication they are taking? Any information on the nature and
extent of the tests? If this has been discussed previously, perhaps someone
could direct me to the information. Thanks.
