Dear Camilla, I understand the need for a place for caregivers to let off steam. However, I think you are failing to, perhaps, prevent early burnout by not encouraging the PWP's to think of them and treat them as partners, not as caregivers. I have been afflicted with PD since 1978 and my wife is not my caregiver. Instead, she is my very precious Parkinson-Partner. As Regional Support Group Coordinator of the Ohio Parkinson Foundation (C/SE Region), one of my main focuses this year in ow to help the partner/caregiver. My wife, Della, is our Parkinson-Partner Support Group Specialist. We have found that the longer they are thought of as partners the better their life will be. Please let me know what your thoughts are on this subject.
