describe the
past, present, and future of
one of the newest PD organisations on the block
The Maine Parkinson Society
(MEPS)
Karen, now age 47, hails from (where else but?) Maine,
and was diagnosed with PD in 1996. She first experienced
symptoms in 1991. She has worked in the Wicasset school
system as administrative secretary for the special
services department for 18 years. She shares her home
with her cat Sam and Jon the wonder husband. Karen got
involved as soon as Greg Leeman started the Maine
Parkinson Society (MEPS) in June of 1998. She is
currently President of MEPS.
Harold, Karen's father, a retired banker, CPA, and
politician, is the Secretary of the MEPS Board of
Directors.
Carl, a retired financial planner and stockbroker whose
wife, Nancy, has Parkinson's disease, is a member of the
MEPS board.
