I want to thank those who followed the directions and disabled the production of html code in their email programs. That fact, in addition to the listserv stripping code from the messages before distributing them, MAY cut down on the weekly virus alerts on Parkinsn. Each subscriber needs to have an anti-virus program running on their computer and update the virus definitions at least once a month. It had been suggested, by several, that we include sign-off instructions at the bottom of the messages. We have now done that. Occasionally I receive notification of an error trapped by the listserv by someone trying to send the listserv commands to Parkinsn rather than the listserv. It is not a big deal...even I do it from time to time..:) Don't worry about it. If your email program includes the header information at the top of you quotemarked text, it probably will not be distributed by the listserv. Instead, those posted, are trapped as errors. TO: Subject: From: are reserved words and should be preceded with a quote character if you include them in your follow-up to a posting. >To: Someone@somewhere >Subject: Something important to me >From: [log in to unmask] The above is proper. If the > or some other character does not precede those reserved words, the listserv may not distribute your posting. Ocassionally, I receive bounce notices because someone has a full mailbox and their ISP bounces each list message to them, back as an error message. As a matter of policy, I generally set your subscription to NOMAIL. When you eventually download your mail and empty your mailbox, you will not receive further Parkinsn messages until you send the following command to the listserv. Address a message to: [log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: set parkinsn mail That will turn your Parkinsn mail back on. PARKINSN MAIL CAN BE READ ON THE WEB. P-I-E-N-O maintains the last 500 messages sent to Parkinsn. You can read them with your browser. The address for the Parkinsn messages is: http://parkinsons-information-exchange-network-online.com/maillist.html PARKINSON'S MEETING CALENDAR As a service to the world-wide Parkinson's community, P-I-E-N-O maintains a updatable Calendar. Clicking on that date will reveal the event. Next month Kathryanne Holden announces her appearances. Any event will appear at all P-I-E-N-O locations.
