Janet Reno will be speaking next Sunday at the State University of New York at Brockport, which is north of Rochester, NY. See article below. A number of PIEN list members are planning to attend, and we're hoping to hear her say she will be more active in PD advocacy, now that she has retired from the government. We'll let you all know what happens. Linda FROM: Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Janet Reno to give talk at SUNY Brockport Former U.S. attorney general will discuss personal challenges (March 11, 2001) -- Former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno will lecture at the State University College at Brockport campus on Sunday, March 25. Her talk will cover everything from her time in the Clinton administration to the personal challenges she's faced in life, said Mark Midkiff, president of the Brockport Student Government, which is sponsoring the talk. "She has some story to tell," he said. Her time in office was fraught with controversy, from the deaths of 86 people in a standoff with federal agents in Waco, Texas, to charges by Congressional Republicans that she helped cover up Clinton administration wrongdoing. Reno announced in 1995 that she had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Her lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Brockport's Tuttle North Complex. The center holds 2,400, and Brockport Student Government is hoping for a sell-out crowd. Admission is free for SUNY Brockport students; $4 for faculty, staff and alumni; and $5 for the general public. Tickets are available at the SUNY Brockport Student Government Box Office in the Seymour College Union, or call 395-2487. Tickets also are available through Ticketmaster at 232-1900. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
