George, Where you located? How long have you been an employee? What's the company's history in granting early retirement on medical grounds. (I sense you have about zero confidence in the emp. relations dept; join the club) The Pension Fund comittee decide whether to grant retirement, at least this so in the UK. I worked for GE (USA) Information Services. The pension fund is managed by a board consisting of members from all the GE Businesses in the UK. I went to see the company Doctor about retirement; he examined me and sent a report to the Human resources dept. It was approved. I had been with them almost 26 years. Have you been to your doctor? Does your company have a doctor? If they offer/propose a less demanding; is the issue money or image, or both. Looking back (I ret. 8/96) I wish i could have stayed on doing a desk job - I was an IT Project mgr - like support desk.
