I tried to send the following message, but it got returned; so, I'm sending it to the list serve. ------------ Roger: You don't know me, but I subscribe to CASSL listserve, and Graham told me that you are chairing Canadian Causus. I'm writing a thesis next year, and I would like to present at 4C. I intend to run a study to show the identity as a professional/researcher is the key (or one of the important factors) when teaching/learning how to write in each university discipline. This has been suggested in the literature (e.g. Horowitz, 1986; Johns, 1997), but there hasn't been any real study to dis/confirm the relationship. I still haven't decided the methodology of the study, but I'm sure that I'll have enough to present by next March.
