Yes logic has taken a backseat. Social security denied
after 12 years of PD and a state teaching retirement
that says I am disabled and does NOT permit you to
work.

Magic words come to mind, and they wonder why we get
angry.

This too shall pass...

...more aggravation of course. I know that so
many people go through this and eventually it should go
thru. But here we are, trying to help each other
function as long as possible, to be able to move. But
it is so deceptive. I read the letter and a chemical
much more powerful than my meds either turned on or
off, because if the ss doctor could see me now ... he'd
see a completely disabled person.

...they did say that I did
not qualify according to their criteria, and that even
if I could not teach, I could do something less
demanding.

...I was declared disabled at age 50 last year and
had worked for well over 20 years, all paying social
security. I think I will win with an attorney - gee I
hope so anyway - but the aggravation and time spent
becomes frustrating. The part that really gets me is
that I do receive my teacher retirement - it's a
disability retirement with a clearcut rule that you may
not work.

... I truly do think that people are not familiar
with the condition. That's a good idea to establish
rapport like that, I didn't feel that with my case
worker at all. She wasn't cold, just neutral, to the point...

lil

this is absolute insanity!
not to say outrageous!

bureaucracy run amok!

what about the ADA?

why should anyone diagnosed with an incurable
degenerative disease have to go through any
re-evaluation and be kicked off the list?

maybe ssdi know something your neuro doesn't know?

maybe they've found the cure and not told anyone?

why should you have to pay legal fees to prove your
medical condition to anyone?

why should virtually every ssdi applicant in the usa
with pd have to re-invent the wheel?

where are the pd organisations on this issue? PDF? NPF?
APDA? MJFF? PLWP? can they not intervene on your
behalf? where is the medical profession AMA? the
neurologists ANA ? the movement disorder specialists
WEMOVE ?

how about separating the medical condition from the
means test and let the experts in each field do their
work unimpeded?

adjudication of disability has been removed to a
separate adjudication body in the ontario disabilities
support program, meaning the people with the authority
to evaluate financial need and write checks
do not have the authority to determine disability.

from my outside viewpoint - "catching cheaters" as a
premise for operation of the ssdi is an insult to every
citizen of the usa

maybe y'all need another petition?

just my canadian two cents worth
