Apr 2, 2001 Science briefs from The Tampa Tribune Mixed emotions: You say your husband doesn't show enough emotion? Maybe you aren't looking for his more subtle expressions on the left cheek. Men and women may be equally emotive, but guys often channel visible signs of their feelings to the lower left part of the face. Women, on the other hand, show their colors across their entire countenance, say researchers at the University of Florida. These differences might offer clues about the brain's wiring and whether men's brains are more compartmentalized than women's, said Dawn Bowers, an associate professor of health psychology. ``It's possible that is at work in facial expressions,'' she said. ``That the emotional priming systems for men may be located in the right hemisphere but are more dispersed in women.'' Understanding more about the brain and facial expression could lead to a better understanding of illnesses that affect the face, such as Parkinson's disease and strokes. http://www.tampatrib.com/News/MGAN2C8A2LC.html ******* [log in to unmask] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off Parkinsn send a message to: mailto:[log in to unmask] In the body of the message put: signoff parkinsn
