Golf Tourney to be a Link to the Cure

06 April 2001 - Joan Snyder is heading a local committee
planning a golf tournament "Links for the Cure - 2001" to
       benefit Parkinson Disease research.

Snyder, who is a person with Parkinson's Disease, has
spearheaded the golf fundraiser as well as other activities to
raise awareness of the disease and to funds to find a cure.

The tournament is planned July 7 at Donovon Golf course in
Peoria. A family fun day is also planned at Three Sister Park.
Events scheduled at the park include a magic show,
storytelling, and bocce ball tournament. Music will be
provided by Central Illinois Jazz Orchestra, Patrick Hazel and
Sally Weisenburg and the Famous Sidemen.

Two thirds of the net profits from the event, which is being
sponsored by the Parkinson Alliance, will be matched dollar
for dollar (up to $50,000) by the Tuchman Foundation, and will
go directly to fund research projects.

A few of the many contributors who have promised their
generous support to the event include Methodist Medical
Center, Caterpillar Inc., Three Sisters Park, Cilco, and
CEFCU. Additional sponsorship is needed. Contact Joan Snyder
at 579-3026 for more information about contributing.

Joining Snyder on the committee are Roger McChristian, Gene
Petty, Don White, Butch Duffy, Lyn Truitt, Craig Kendall,
Jeannie McAllister, Jean Razo, Tina Tippett, Steve Tippett,
       and Stan Snyder.
