Dear Sid

First of all, thankyou for your kind and fast answer to my question. May be you could help me again if I reformulate ti.

Where could there be available the statistics of improving or symptom's variations after a Deep Brain Stimulation -DBS- implanting two electrodes at the Subthalamic Nucleus -STN -.Altough The FDA has just approved it short ago. it has been widely practiced in Europe (prof.Benabid in Grenoble started it 6 years ago or even before. In 1 999 I saw in a lecture of Dr. Obeso(Spain) a series of carefully done bar graphics showing the improvment after the surgery till 3 years after. He explained associated problems, defined groups of age, Hohen _Yahr former state , Young Onset,... and the reasons for an average symptom's worsening as years go. But these were his team's results and I'd like to widen the field of answers

Hoping your new news

Best Regards

Tony Cortina

I don't think DBS has been around long enough for an understanding of Long
Term symptoms.
You might check with Medtronics of Minneapolis.
They are one of the manufacturers, a very big, well run company.
Biggest pacemaker mfg & a pioneer in new medical devices.

I'm 74, but when I was in my fifties, we competed against them.
I should have bought their stock instead.
Good Luck
Sid Levin
PS I know three people that have had DBS and all three are much better now.
