Hi Kathrynne,

Thank you very, very much for this response, it is helpful. I will see if
my sister can provide the meds and doses now in use. They are definitely
working with a physician who is a specialist in PD, but he is quite busy. As
I read the emails I get the idea that this is they way it is, too much
disease not enough specialists. The web Drs. should be a good way to
supplement info. The support group reference has given us good leads,
thanks!

Kind regards,

Helen

Dear Helen,
I feel sure you will get many excellent answers to your questions; and I
hope you can
introduce your sister and your friend here, as well.

One possibility is over-medication, which can lead to hallucinations; if
your friend is not seeing a neurologist who specializes in Parkinson's
disease, that would be the very first thing to do -- locate such a
physician and make an appointment. PD is much too complex and too
individualized for most general neurologists to deal with, at least when
such complications as hallucinations occur.

It would be helpful if you could list all the medications your friend
uses; if you know the amounts of each med per day, that would be useful
also.

If you will click this NPF website:

http://www.parkinson.org/acodemap.htm

you'll find groups listed by area codes, and a group in your area code
should be able to refer you more specifically to your neighborhood.

Also the APDA has Information & Referrals, click this website:

http://www.apdaparkinson.com/

Finally, there are some places on the 'net where you can ask PD
specialists your questions:

1) Dr. Abraham Lieberman,
a leading specialist in Parkinson's disease, answers
e-mails at no charge on the National Parkinson Foundation
website at:

http://www.parkinson.org/

Scroll down the page to:

Ask Dr. Lieberman, NPF Medical Director

Click on this, and follow the directions. You can then
e-mail your concerns to Dr. Lieberman. He usually answers
within 48 hours.

2) University of Cincinnati, Case Western Reserve
U., and Ohio State U. Click on the Ask an Expert section,
then click on Parkinsons in the list of diseases. Dr. Arif
Dalvi, a specialist in PD, usually answers within two days.
http://www.netwellness.org/

3)Parkinson's Disease Foundation's website -- Ask the Expert
 http://www.pdf.org
May take 2-3 days

Good luck to you, your friend, and your sister!
Best regards,
Kathrynne
