Rob,
Having the same problems-with swelling and with Doc indifference.
Only additional advice I got was walking.  Can't say if that helps because
I haven't done it.  I sit at the computer all day and most evenings-not
good for swollen legs and feet.  I know this isn't much help-just
commiserating.
