Hi Margery and Betty,
Driving is a topic that has been discussed at length from time to time
on this List and there is plenty of material in the PIEN LIST Archive....

In the last week there was 1 or more queries about accessing the
ARCHIVE... So... with that in mind and driving as an example...

How do ya access the Archive? Well, there are at least three ways....

First... the oldest way (and still working very well)

Go to Simon Coles site at:

http://parkinsn.coles.org.uk/

click on the "go to the search screen" hyperlink...

Type driving in the SEARCH box....

Search for "driving"
Options: Sort results by "relevance"
Return a maximum of "All" results
"Check" Use word variants ("cat" will also find "cats")

Yikes! 1000 documents returned; 5660 found

First one is one I posted....

Background Papers on Restricting Driving Privilege
Murray Charters 02/14/2001

Click for full text.... etc. (Thank you very much Simon Coles)

The Second way to access the Archive (you don't require Internet Access for
this one)

Send an E-mail to the LISTSERV with your query in the body....

Looks like this....

(To:) [log in to unmask]

(Subject:) please leave this line BLANK

(Body:) SEARCH PARKINSN driving

(Signature:) please leave this line BLANK

Let's see.... Have we got this straight? Ya send a one line COMMAND to the
LISTSERV (not the usual PARKINSN address)

Okay... Then what happens?

In a few minutes the LISTSERV responds to your SEARCH PARKINSN
command by return e-mail.... (looks like this)

(Date sent:) Tue, 8 May 2001 21:26:14 -0400

> SEARCH PARKINSN driving
-> 1458 matches (only the first 100 will be shown).

By now you probably see this is not user friendly....
It has only 1 advantage... It is e-mail based and you can browse
the results off-line...

But you have to send the COMMAND GETPOST to the LISTSERV
with your selection(s) etc.

Do I recommend it? NO! But it IS an option.....

If it confuses you at all then choose option 1 or 3 (equally recommended)

The Third and newest way....

John Cottingham has a search box on his site at:

http://parkinsons-information-exchange-network-online.com/maillist.html

Scroll down to the Search box and type driving

The results are very similar to the first way ....

but... if you read your mail on John's site then yer already there...

so it's pretty handy... (Thank you John Cottingham)

Now ya might want to change your search slightly to
limit the "hits"......

search results for "driving AND restrict"

87 documents found

A little easier to browse....

Cheers ........... murray
