Sinemet, as well as Permax and other agonists, may eventually lead to
psychological problems such as hallucination, paranoia, and dementia.  The
literature mentions that about 35% of PWP are affected.  Dr. Lieberman of
the APDA mentioned at one seminar held in this area that with age,
practically every one gets it.
Would a delay in the use of these drugs defer the problems?  Would a
reduction in the use of these drugs reduce the probability of incurring
these side effects?
It can be a very tight balancing act, but the answers have not as yet come
forth.
I found it far more difficult to deal with these psychological problems that
my Barbara incurred than with the dyskinesias.
Get good medical advice from Movement Disorder Specialists and possibly from
Neuro-psychiatrists who are well versed with these drugs.
