The embryo does not need to die.

Therefor, obtaining stem cells from early embryos
is morally similar to obtaining adult stem cells.

Utilizing preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) techniques,
stem cells can be taken from early embryos without destroying them.
The technique has been around for ten years.

What happens to leftover in vitro embryos is a seperate issue
from in vitro fertilization.
